On July 21, 2025, INTACT Base Vietnam participated in the workshop titled “Developing Human Resources for IC Design and Introducing the INTENSE Scholarship Program,” organized by the Vietnam National Innovation Center (NIC) in collaboration with its partners. The event aimed to introduce students and educational institutions in Vietnam to the opportunities for study, research, and career development in Taiwan through the INTENSE scholarship program.

Professor Chao-Lung Yang, PI of the INTENSE Scholarship Program in Vietnam, delivered the opening speech for the scholarship introduction session.

The INTENSE Scholarship is a flagship initiative launched by Taiwan’s Ministry of Education (MOE), designed to attract outstanding international students to study and work in key fields such as STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics), Finance, and especially the semiconductor industry. The program covers full tuition and living expenses and offers internship and employment opportunities at leading semiconductor corporations such as TSMC, UMC, MediaTek, ASE, etc.

According to Mr. Võ Xuân Hoài, Deputy Director of NIC, amid the semiconductor and digital technology sectors becoming strategic drivers of sustainable growth, the INTENSE Scholarship stands as a clear testament to the success of international collaboration in training high-quality human resources. “NIC is committed to continuously connecting with reputable partners to facilitate international study, research, and internship opportunities for Vietnamese students,” Mr. Hoài emphasized.

Sharing the same vision, Assist.Prof. Duc-Thang Vo, Co-PI of the INTENSE Scholarship Program in Vietnam, expressed hope that the scholarship will serve as an effective bridge for technology talent development between Vietnam and Taiwan. “Through the program, students not only gain access to an advanced academic foundation but also practical experience within enterprises, preparing them to join the global value chain of the semiconductor industry,” Assist.Prof. Duc-Thang Vo shared.

Assist.Prof. Duc-Thang Vo also responded to questions from students during the Q&A session.

The workshop concluded with the participation of over 50 teachers, parents, and students. Beyond receiving information from the organizers, many students actively engaged by asking questions, expressing strong interest and eagerness to apply for the INTENSE Scholarship in upcoming admission cycles. The event was regarded as a positive starting point, opening new avenues for educational cooperation and high-tech workforce development between Vietnam and Taiwan.
